Hemlock House

Set on seven and a half acres of meadow and woodland in Kerhonkson, this new house is organized around its view of the Catskills. A double-height great room opens to the ridgeline through a wall of divided-light windows, with a mezzanine library above and a wood stove set into a tiled alcove below. Wide-plank white oak runs throughout; the kitchen pairs soapstone counters with custom cabinetry, and the baths are finished in marble and brass. Bedrooms are separated by double-stud walls for acoustic privacy, and three covered porches carry the house out into gardens planted with native species by a local landscape designer.
